First Things First

Thank you for all of your comments on the name, published comments as well as comments made to me directly (and indirectly). Many of you who are less than thrilled with the name are concerned that the name will not communicate anything distinctive about the unique character of this new church. Some of you have said things like "underwhelming" "boring" "too churchy". To which I reply, "perfect". Let's not burden the name with a responsibility it was never supposed to carry. Since when has a name convinced anyone to walk through the door? That's our job as we are mobilized to fulfill the mission of the church. Now, if the mission of this new church is underwhelming, boring or too-churchy, then we have a problem, a big problem. So, on to first things--the mission.
