Jesus said …
I am the Resurrection and the Life
John 11:17-27
God created us to live forever. He didn’t intend for us to die. But we chose death when we chose to walk away from our heavenly Father and his will for our lives. The story of humanity has been a sad one ever since. For no matter how noble, how well intended, how creative and talented, we all end up dead, us and all our plans. This is the story chronicled by the newspaper with daily specifics of the triumph of death over life, failure over success, war over peace.
Into the midst of the brokenness of our world comes Jesus. In our scripture, he confronts Martha, grieving over the death of her brother, Lazarus, with the audacious claim that not only can she hope in the resurrection of her brother in the last day, but also she can hope in the resurrection right now. Because Jesus is the resurrection.
When you come to Jesus with your problems, with your struggles, with your disappointments, what do you want him to do for you? If you are like me, you will want Jesus to restore life to the way it was before the problem arose, before the hope was crushed. We want our old lives resuscitated.
Jesus did not come to restore our old lives. He came to bring our old lives back from the dead, to make all things new. Resurrection. A whole new restoration of our lives and our world as it was always meant to be. Life and to the full.
We are called to live into this future in three easy steps.
Trust Jesus with whatever is broken in your life.
Let go of the wheel and let Jesus steer that area of your life.
Fill your day with performing simple acts of faithfulness.
Repeat daily. You will see a new pattern taking shape, a new direction.
Grace and peace,
James
How do you recognize God’s speaking with you?
What helps you sort out His voice from all the other voices?
Is there someone you know with this ability? Ask them to help.

Beginning 6 PM, September 10th, we will have someone praying in the church every hour and every day until 6 PM October 20th. Come and spend time with your Heavenly Father.
The 40 day 24/7 prayer room is in need of items.
